Why solar?
I'm an Alberta kid. I know what a Stampede summer power bill looks like and what a January gas-and-electric bill looks like back-to-back. Solar shaves the electric side down to something rational and locks it in for two decades. That's a real thing for a real family. I don't have a story about saving the planet. I have a story about getting the most predictable expense in your home down to a number you actually control.

What I tell nervous customers.
I don't pitch. I tell them what I'd do in their shoes. If their roof is wrong, I say so. If the financing doesn't work, I say so. If they should wait two years until their roof is ready to be re-shingled, I tell them to wait. People aren't nervous about solar — they're nervous about being sold to. So I don't sell. I just give them the information and let them decide.

An install I'm proud of.
A guy in Sherwood Park, two doors down from a friend of mine. He'd been pitched by three other solar companies, each one heavier than the last. I came out, looked at his roof, told him the south face was great but the north face wasn't worth wiring. We installed about 60% of what the other companies had quoted. His production was better than any of their proposals. Word got around the block. Six neighbours signed within the year.
