Three questions, three answers.

01

Why solar?

I sit on the design side, which means I see every roof before the homeowner sees their proposal. Solar is one of the few products where the engineering and the honesty have to match exactly — the array on paper has to be the array that actually gets built. Getting the design right is what lets an advisor make a promise they can keep for twenty-five years. That's the part I care about, and it's why I'm here and not at a company that treats the layout as an afterthought.

02

What every proposal has to do.

Be true. A proposal that overpromises to win a signature is the worst thing we can hand a customer, because the install crew has to build it and the homeowner has to live with it for decades. I design every system to the real roof — real measurements, real shading, real production numbers. If a layout won't fit or won't perform, the advisor hears it from me long before the customer does. Premium hardware deserves a premium design behind it, and that starts with telling the truth on paper.

03

A design I'm proud of.

A complicated roof in Calgary with three different pitches and a chimney that shaded the best southern face for part of the day. The easy move would have been to pack panels on and quietly accept the loss. Instead I modelled the shading hour by hour and reworked the array so production held up without crowding the roof. It went in clean, and the homeowner's numbers landed right where we'd said they would. The advisor on that file still brings it up.
